Parish Ministries St. Francis of Assisi Elizabeth Ministry Our mission is to welcome our newly baptized babies and their families into the community of St. Francis and to affirm the first sacrament of Baptism as an initiation into a life in Christ. St. Francis Bread In the "spirit" of St. Francis, one weekend a month, team members will organize food donations after all of the masses and distribute the food to a local food pantry. M.O.M.S. The Ministry of Mothers Sharing (MOMS) is a seven-week program of self-awareness and awakening to the spirituality of motherhood, which brings about a sense of belonging, hospitality, faith sharing, and genuine community. It is a seven-week experience for mothers to come together once a week for two hours to share their stories and bond by gaining insight into their current experiences. Women's Book Discussion Women of the parish are warmly welcomed to come together, discuss a book read by all and share insights, refreshments and companionship. The purpose of these gatherings is to read and enjoy literature! So, if you love books, and you're ready to discuss them. . . you're in the right place. Care and the love of knitting and crocheting have been combined into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort, healing, and solace. Many blessings are woven into every shawl. The knitter begins each shawl with prayers for the recipient and intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. Scripture Study Parishioners meet weekly to assist each other in reading and studying the scripture and improve our ability to hear the voice of God in the words of the Bible. Through study, adults come to see that the Bible is God's living word, inspired by the Holy Spirit, revealing God's plan of salvation for humankind. St Francis CYO Basketball St Francis, the largest CYO basketball program in the county, offers instructional basketball clinics for first and second grade boys and girls, as well as competitive teams for the third through eighth grade girls and boys. Ministry of Consolation The purpose of the Ministry of Consolation is to ensure that no member of our faith community Bereavement Support Group St. Francis Faith and Light Prayer Group Faith and Light is a monthly prayer group consisting of adult persons with developmental disabilities. This group offers friendship, support, opportunities to share our God-given gifts, and spiritual enrichment. The meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month from 6:30 – 8 PM. St. Francis of Assisi Youth Group This ministry, for youth in the parish from grades 9-12, generally meets every Sunday from 7-8pm in Rader Hall. The youth design and run each meeting. Besides our meetings, The Youth Group organizes and sponsors service projects and participates in various parish events. Christian Service Committee The Christian Service Committee coordinates opportunities for the parish to provide service to those less fortunate in our community. Each year we coordinate the Thanksgiving Food drive, Christmas gift drive, Easter Food drive, and take on other projects that come to our attention. Liturgy and Spirituality Committee Liturgy is the prayer of the Church – our public worship. The purpose of the Liturgy Committee is to facilitate this worship by educating, sharing information, and assisting in the planning of parish liturgies. Spirituality seeks to provide opportunities for our parishioners to learn more about how God works with us and through us. Our actions and activities are ideas generated by our members.
